Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors Software Department. The role leads design, development, and delivery of mission-critical radar and C2 software in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Onsite in MA with potential relocation eligibility, mentoring junior engineers, and driving technical excellence across cross-functional teams. The position requires advanced technical leadership, a DoD Secret clearance, and collaboration across systems engineers,

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in C, C++, or Ada for software development, testing, and/or integration.
• Experience in agile software development methodologies, such as scrum, SAFe, or DevSecOps.
• The ability to obtain and maintain an interim secret U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software solutions for radar and C2 systems.
• Analyze, implement, and test software modifications to enhance performance and reliability.
• Drive resolution of complex software trouble reports and optimize code for performance.
• Provide technical leadership in an agile environment and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and testers to define system requirements and integration.
• Represent the software team in program-level discussions and ensure alignment with objectives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and drive innovation within the team.
