Job summary

iManage in Chicago is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own complex initiatives across the SDLC on our core platform. You will partner with product, design, and research to shape what we build and how we build it, while maintaining hands-on ownership.

You will design cloud-native systems at scale, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams. The role blends technical leadership with applying AI thoughtfully in daily development.

Qualifications

• Own complex technical initiatives from problem definition through delivery with minimal oversight.
• Hands-on experience in Java, microservices, and event-driven architectures in production systems.
• Experience designing cloud-native systems at scale, with Azure preferred.
• Ability to think critically about architectural patterns and articulate benefits.
• Applied understanding of AI in engineering workflows and using AI tools effectively.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and taking ownership across multiple areas.

Responsibilities

• Owning technical initiatives end to end from requirements through delivery with minimal oversight.
• Operating with a product mindset to understand customer and business impact.
