Job summary

WaferWire Cloud Technologies is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Firewire team. You will drive technical leadership, design scalable payment processing systems, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable services behind major tech clients in North America.

You will mentor engineers, enhance CI/CD, improve observability, and work in an AI-assisted SDLC environment. Strong focus on secure coding and regulated environment practices is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in a technical lead role.
• BS in CS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Azure Cloud solutions.
• Strong RESTful API design, OAuth2 and microservices understanding.
• Familiar with GitHub Actions and observability tooling like Datadog.
• Knowledge of multithreading, distributed computing and queuing mechanisms.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Jira or similar tools.
• Secure coding practices and PCI DSS / SOC 2 awareness.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, code, debug, and modify software enhancements and new products.
• Lead backend services and APIs to support Firewire platform operations.
• Collaborate with QA, Security, and Infra to ensure deployment and performance.
• Improve CI/CD workflows, observability, and platform reliability.
• Implement monitoring and alerting to meet SLA and incident response needs.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Operate in an AI-driven SDLC with AI code assistants and automated testing.
• Lead test automation and strategy for REST-based APIs hosted on Azure.
• Plan, execute and manage comprehensive test activities across multiple domains.
