Job summary

Western Union is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments Platform to drive modernization across North America and LATAM. You will design, develop, and scale cloud-native services, APIs, and data solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS, with emphasis on security, reliability, and observability.

The role collaborates with product and operations teams and leverages AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with focus on security, reliability, scalability, observability, and operations.
• 4+ years building cloud-native applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• 3+ years developing on AWS with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• 1+ years of experience with event-driven architectures.
• 1+ years working with cloud databases (PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB) and distributed caching (Redis, ElastiCache).
• Experience contributing to modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to payment platform modernization across NA and LACA regions.
• Design, develop, test, and support applications, APIs, and platform services using AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Develop and modernize AWS-based microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Develop cloud-native data solutions using PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB.
• Implement telemetry, monitoring, and observability to improve platform health and user experience.
• Review AI-generated code for security, quality, and standards.
