Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group (CSAA IG) is hiring a Principal Software Engineer focused on Emerging Technology & AI, remote in the United States. You will lead rapid prototypes, evaluate platforms, and translate concepts into scalable delivery solutions across teams.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and drive adoption of innovative technologies while maintaining high software quality and alignment with enterprise standards. Remote‑first, nationwide with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or an equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering.
• 10 years software development experience.
• Cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3).
• Build, integration, and deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven).
• Programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java/J2EE, Python, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, React).
• Holds applicable certifications aligned to the technology stack.
• Familiarity with cloud-native services and architectures.
• Experience with software build, integration, and deployment tools.
• Actively shapes our company culture (mentoring, collaboration, ownership).
• Travels as needed for role and meetings.
• Fulfills business needs with proactive alignment to strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead as a senior hands-on technical resource for Emerging Tech Labs and experiments.
• Translate opportunities into technical hypotheses, prototypes, and recommendations.
• Provide advanced technical guidance across experiments and pilots.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture for platform fit, security, and governance.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical execution as an IC.
