Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group (CSAA IG) seeks a Principal Software Engineer focused on emerging technology and AI for a remote role across the United States. You will design rapid prototypes, proofs of concept, and pilots; evaluate platforms, integrations, and architecture; and translate successful concepts into scalable solutions for delivery teams.

You will mentor engineers and influence enterprise technology decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or related field, or equivalent combo with 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
10+ years of software development experience.
Experience with cloud-native services and architectures (compute, storage, database).
Proficiency with build, test, integration, and deployment tools; familiar with security/governance patterns.

Responsibilities

Lead technical design of proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and pilots across diverse technologies and platforms.
Build working software and integrations to validate feasibility without over-engineering prototypes.
Create design artifacts, experiment docs, and reusable patterns meeting EA/engineering standards.
Evaluate APIs, cloud services, AI platforms, data sources, and vendor products through hands-on testing.
Translate validated concepts into guidance for delivery teams and enterprise adoption.
