Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Rockford, IL for a hybrid role (onsite 4 days, remote 1 day if possible). You will design, implement and validate control software for power systems, leading teams to ensure DO-178C compliance and robust architecture.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 8+ years as a Software Engineer or related role, or a Master's with 5+ years.
• At least 5 years of experience with embedded C programming.
• Minimum 3 years leading medium to large software engineering teams.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with DO-178C or other safety-critical software lifecycle standards.
• Experience with software development for Generator/Bus Power Control Units.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test and implement control and diagnostic software.
• Analyze end-user needs by evaluating system capabilities to meet program intent and data acquisition.
• Ensure compliance with hardware and software standards and explore innovative technologies.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and program oversight.
• Collaborate with equipment designers on electronic data processing for product/software.
• Create build procedures supporting hardware/software product development.
• Protect novel ideas using IP processes and tools.
