Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a proactive Principal Engineer for Mechanical Engineering, Generators, onsite in Rockford, IL. You’ll support existing product development, solve field issues across design, analysis and testing, and create technical documentation from hardware specs to test reports.

Strong collaboration with suppliers and customers is essential. The ideal candidate has a STEM degree with extensive experience, excellent communication, and hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility is required for access to program information.

Responsibilities

• Support existing product development and field issues related to design, analysis, and test.
• Create engineering documentation such as hardware specs, test plans, analytical and test reports.
• Work to program plans including budgets and schedules.
• Communicate effectively with management, suppliers, customers and the design team.
• Participate in design discussions and customer presentations.
• Conduct investigations to establish root cause and implement corrective action.
• Adhere to and develop engineering standard work.
• Respond to supplier or plant site issues and analyze field operations.
• Support military programs and RAT motors.
