Job description

Mascoma Bank is seeking a Principal Software Architect to join our subsidiary, Mascoma Technologies. This person must have extensive knowledge of software development practices and banking practices, and will use that knowledge and experience to create functional, elegant, and maintainable solutions to complex technical challenges. The expectation is that this person will be able to do both hands-on Python development, and high-level design and architecture for the team. The software developed and/or architected by the Principal Software Architect, in collaboration with the Software Development team, will enable Mascoma Technologies to meet rapidly growing business needs and maintain a technical competitive advantage in the financial industry. The Principal Software Architect will take direction from the Director of Software Engineering and may at times be relied upon to provide insight and mentorship to more junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience with software development and architecture in an enterprise environment. This person must have expert knowledge in software development concepts and understand how design decisions may impact performance, security, scalability, and maintainability of a system. Expert familiarity with Python development is a must. AWS Architect certification preferred. This position requires adaptability, a passion for learning new things, and the ability to apply gained knowledge to create better products. This person will interact with business stakeholders and IT team members, so the ability to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people is crucial to success.
