Job summary

DraftKings is seeking a Senior Lead Reliability Engineer, Database, to own the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our high‑scale database infrastructure across cloud and on‑prem environments.

You will drive architecture, build automation, and partner with engineering teams to ensure zero-downtime deployments, robust backups, and cost-aware performance tuning at real‑time scale.

Qualifications

• Strong database focus with experience delivering complex infrastructure
• Expertise in PostgreSQL and related databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Experience operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes with operators and IaC tooling
• Hands-on software development in Go or Python to build automation and tooling

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of database infrastructure
• Design and build automation-first database platforms and Kubernetes operators
• Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement
• Optimize performance and cost across cloud and on-prem environments
• Partner with application teams on safe deployment, migrations, and optimization
• Leverage AI for observability, anomaly detection, and predictive insights
