Job summary

General Motors seeks a Principal Software Engineer for the Simulation Engine to define and drive the long-term technical vision for simulation and validation infrastructure. You will set architectural direction, guide cross-functional teams, and champion scalable, high-fidelity platforms across the autonomy stack.

You will influence engineers and leaders, shape investment priorities, and ensure delivery excellence while aligning with the company’s safety and performance goals.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience with production-quality platforms.
• Expert programming in modern C++ and Python with strong OO design.
• Experience as architectural authority across teams or orgs.
• Track record of influencing senior technical and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical vision and roadmap for simulation and validation infrastructure.
• Establish platform strategies for scalable, high-fidelity, deterministic simulation.
• Lead cross-organizational initiatives spanning autonomy software, ML, validation, and tooling.
• Set direction for core simulation abstractions, APIs, and execution models.
• Drive adoption of common platforms and engineering practices to reduce fragmentation.
