Job summary

Barrington James is partnering with a well-funded clinical-stage biotech startup in Boston seeking a Principal Scientist – Computational Biology to own the computational strategy for a cell therapy project.

You will build pipelines from scratch, define analytical standards, and work directly with the CTO. Initially you’ll be an individual contributor with the long-term goal of forming a dedicated computational biology team.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics or a related field.
• Strong experience with human genomic data (WGS/WES) and interpretation.
• Experience with iPSC/PSC or related human cell systems.
• Proficiency in Python and building reproducible pipelines.
• Experience in cloud/HPC environments and modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the computational biology roadmap and decide what to build internally vs externally.
• Develop reproducible pipelines and scalable data workflows from scratch.
• Apply statistical modeling and machine learning where appropriate.
• Collaborate with CTO and cross-functional teams to integrate genomic data with process and product data.
• Lead as hands-on contributor with a view to building a team in the future.
