Job summary

Vast in Long Beach, CA is hiring for the founding Assembly, Integration & Test Engineer to build, integrate, and prove flightworthy satellites from development units to production lines.

You will write the integration flow, establish environmental testing capability, and lead campaigns with structures, avionics, thermal, power, GNC, and flight software teams. This is a full-time exempt role onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in test engineering, integration, or other hardware engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with spacecraft or complex flight hardware integration.
• Experience with environmental testing (thermal vacuum and random vibration).
• Experience developing and executing test plans and procedures from scratch; able to produce procedures, test reports, requirements, and discrepancy reports.
• Proficiency with at least one of C, C++, Python, or MATLAB for test automation, data reduction, or GSE control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own integration and test campaigns across component to full vehicle levels.
• Define the test philosophy for the bus and ensure it scales from development units to production.
• Develop acceptance, qualification, and R&D test plans and drive them through execution and closure.
• Collaborate with systems and subsystems leads to define requirements and verification plans.
• Develop, maintain, and operate environmental test systems (random vibration, TVAC, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).
• Design, build, and maintain MGSE/EGSE and related facilities; manage test data and pass/fail criteria.
