Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Robotics Systems Engineer based in Boston to lead the systems engineering of a complex surgical robotic platform. You will own the end-to-end requirements flow, decompose clinical needs into system and subsystem specs, and ensure safe, compliant design across hardware, software, and controls.

You will coordinate with clinical, quality, manufacturing, and verification teams to meet FDA and ISO requirements, drive design reviews, and support regulatory

Qualifications

• 8+ years of multidisciplinary systems engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience in surgical robotic systems or complex medical devices.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware/software testing, and electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of systems engineering for a complex surgical robotic platform, including definition of system architecture and requirements.
• Own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle with traceability from user needs to verification and validation.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, controls, mechanical, clinical, and V&V teams.
• Lead system architecture development with robust integration of hardware, software, controls, and user interaction.
• Lead system-level risk management per ISO 14971 and ensure regulatory alignment for design controls.
• Interface with regulatory affairs, quality, manufacturing, clinical teams to support audits and submissions.
