Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Resource Planning Analyst to lead generation resource planning, develop input for Integrated Resource Plans, and evaluate energy portfolios including renewables, storage, gas turbines and other resources.

The role requires expertise in modeling tools, familiarity with RTO rules, and collaboration with regulatory staff to support IRPs, CPCN filings, and related proceedings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an analytical field (engineering, math, CS or business).
• 3 years as Resource Planning Analyst Sr or 9 years in related planning experience.
• Experience in generating plant operations, renewables, energy efficiency, RTO operations, or transmission engineering/operations.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and conduct complex generation resource planning studies.
• Develop production cost and resource optimization models for IRPs, RFPs, and filings.
• Prepare and support regulatory reports and testimony.
• Collaborate with OS and regulatory staff to address IRP issues.
• Communicate complex resource planning concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
