Job summary

Amplitude, Inc. is seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead end-to-end design across Wave, Amplitude's proactive product agent. You will work with leaders across Product, Engineering, and Research to shape direction, mentor designers, and deliver high-quality experiences powered by AI.

You'll collaborate with executives and customers to validate design choices, ensuring our platform remains at the forefront of product analytics while shipping rapidly and learning from users.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product design experience.
• Ability to drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces and align cross-functional partners.
• Strategic, visionary perspective driving innovative product design.
• Builder's mindset—balancing high standards with fast production shipping.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design for complex or ambiguous products.
• Experience designing and shipping features powered by AI.
• Bias for action and iteration—ship often to drive impact.
• Clear, persuasive communication and storytelling skills.
• Track record mentoring designers and contributing to design culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design across ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives—from problem framing to polished execution.
• Define and drive the design strategy for Wave's core experiences that help teams build self-improving products.
• Collaborate with leadership across Product, Engineering, and Research to shape direction and priorities; present to executives.
• Engage with customers to develop conviction in and iterate on the design direction.
• Partner with Product Marketing and other stakeholders to drive go-to-market launches.
• Drive alignment across teams through storytelling, facilitation, and research synthesis.
• Mentor and guide other designers, growing craft and business influence.
• Deliver high-quality user experiences while optional to ship front-end code.
• Provide design support and expertise for other product areas as needed.
