Job summary

AppGate Cybersecurity, Inc. is hiring a Senior/Staff/Principal Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain software that integrates AppGate services with the Linux OS. Expect hands-on work spanning Python development, systemd integration, namespaces, networking and observability.

You will own platform components, drive cross-cutting initiatives, set technical direction and mentor engineers while contributing production code in a fast-paced, distributed team.

Qualifications

• Significant software, platform or systems engineering experience with production systems.
• 5+ years for senior level candidates, more for Staff/Principal depending on impact and scope.
• Python proficiency in production-grade code and open to close OS integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain reliable Python services and libraries for AppGate ZTNA’s platform.
• Build software that manages Linux processes, namespaces, permissions, and OS primitives.
• Design and maintain systemd units, service dependencies, socket-activated services and lifecycle management.
• Instrument applications with OpenTelemetry for metrics, logs and traces.
• Establish observability practices and debugging standards across the platform.
• Develop software and automation for provisioning, configuring and operating distributed PostgreSQL databases.
• Lead architecture discussions, code reviews and cross-team initiatives.
• Communicate effectively in a distributed, remote work environment.
