Job summary

Pearson is modernizing its content platform and you will be one of the principal engineers leading hands-on design and delivery across UI, workflow orchestration, AI, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.

You will own technical plans for migrations, shared capabilities, and a long‑term roadmap, ensure security and reliability, run incident response, and mentor teams while building scalable, observable systems on AWS.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating production software and 4+ years at staff/principal level or as tech lead across multiple teams.
• Led re-platforming or legacy migration of a production system with active users and data.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Write production code where risk is highest and review the hardest changes from other engineers.
• Unblock hard technical problems spanning systems, teams, or domains.
• Collaborate with managers, product managers, architects, and quality engineers and trade off long‑term initiatives with current delivery.
• Mentor engineers and review critical designs to improve engineering practices.
