Job summary

Pearson is modernizing its content platform with a hands-on principal engineer role. You will design target systems, lead migrations, and build shared capabilities across teams.

Expect responsibility for security, reliability, and scalable AI-enabled workflows across cloud services. You will collaborate with managers, architects, and engineers to define problems, write critical production code, and drive high-impact initiatives that touch user interfaces, workflows, and backend services across

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating production software.
• 4+ years at staff or principal level or as technical lead across several teams.
• Led re-platforming or legacy migration of a production system with active users and data.
• Full-stack depth in Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React with MongoDB and event-driven services.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical plan and delivery for several tracks from design to launch.
• Migrations of large volumes of content and data with integrity guarantees.
• Build shared capabilities exposed via clean APIs for reuse across teams.
• Provide honest assessments of technical debt and prioritize fixes.
• Act as the technical point of contact for incidents with business impact.
