Job summary

CVS Health is building a scalable platform that turns clinical and claims data into actionable insight for patients and providers. As Principal Engineer, you will design the Google Cloud-based platform, lead AI-assisted development, and guide how teams operate with governance and security in a regulated environment.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture across data layers, and partner with executives to align technical strategy with business goals.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building production distributed systems.
• 5+ years leading architecture across multiple teams at staff or principal level.
• Experience designing large-scale batch and streaming data platforms.
• Hands-on coding in Python and Go/Java/C#.
• Deep cloud experience, preferably Google Cloud, with GKE/BigQuery/Spanner.
• Production ML or LLM systems experience with retrieval and serving at scale.
• Experience using AI agents across design and development.
• Strong written communication and ability to present to executives.
• Comfort with regulated environments and audits.

Responsibilities

• Platform design on Google Cloud spanning data acquisition, identity resolution and data products.
• Write production code for critical components and turn prototypes into reference implementations.
• Lead AI-assisted development practices, guardrails, reviews and governance.
• Design AI-assisted operations for incident triage, automation and cost management.
• Ensure enterprise controls, change management and data lineage with security teams.
• Communicate complex systems clearly to engineers and senior leaders.
