Job summary

Siemens Healthineers in Palo Alto is seeking a Principal System Architect to define the architecture for an investigational Photon FLASH radiation therapy platform for clinical trials. This role bridges clinical needs and technical frameworks across software and hardware.

You will collaborate across preclinical, clinical, scientific and engineering teams to ensure FLASH capabilities are clinically relevant, technically feasible, and ready for future investigation and productization.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a physics/engineering field relevant to medical devices.
• Experience with regulated healthcare technology and complex devices.
• Ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements.
• Strong leadership in multidisciplinary product development.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and roadmap for the Photon FLASH ecosystem.
• Translate radiobiology and clinical needs into system requirements.
• Lead system-level decisions across planning, delivery, controls, software, and workflow.
• Guide FLASH treatment planning and delivery capabilities balancing safety and performance.
• Lead system-level risk management and hazard analysis.
• Ensure alignment with FDA design controls and applicable standards.
• Collaborate with clinicians, KOLs, and ARPA-H stakeholders to shape study requirements.
