Job summary

Capital One seeks a Principal Payment Tech Development Manager to lead end-to-end design, development, testing, and delivery of card and mobile payment technologies, with emphasis on EMV and security requirements across devices and wallets.

The role directs standards, certification programs, vendor relationships, and cross-functional collaboration to mitigate risks and ensure compliant, scalable product rollouts. Based in NY or nearby, you’ll influence global payment initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of payment technology R&D experience.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting and interacting with internal or external business clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development of payment technologies for cards and mobile devices.
• Define product technology specifications focusing on functional and security features.
• Develop testing requirements, plans, and procedures for new payment technology products.
• Lead debugging using L2 tools for type approval of the product.
• Advise on certification requirements and compliance programs for seamless rollouts.
• Manage relationships with external vendors including card/chip manufacturers, test labs, and mobile app developers.
• Coordinate Standards Alignment and cross-functional communication on payment standards.
• Actively mitigate risks or customer-impacting issues to senior management.
