Job summary

Capital One in Riverwoods, IL seeks a Principal Payment Tech Development Manager to lead end-to-end design, development, testing, and delivery of card and mobile payment technologies. You will shape security and functional requirements, guide test plans, and oversee vendor partnerships to drive compliant, scalable solutions.

Accountabilities include standards alignment, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful product

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of payment technology research and development experience.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal or external business clients.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology preferred.
• Experience with EMV payments systems, mobile payments including cloud-based payments and secure elements.
• Deep understanding of EMV functional and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, development, testing, certification, and delivery of card, contact/contactless chips, and mobile payment technologies.
• Define product technology specifications with focus on functional and security features.
• Create and maintain testing requirements, test plans, and procedures for new payment technology products.
• Advise on certification requirements and compliance programs for seamless rollouts.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, test labs, and mobile application developers.
• Align standards with global payment specifications and educate stakeholders on new standards and changes.
• Actively identify, mitigate, and escalate risks affecting customers and project timelines.
