Job summary

Arrcus Inc is seeking a Network Infrastructure Software Development- Principal Engineer in San Jose, CA. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and mentoring within high-performance networking software, with emphasis on scalable architectures and collaboration with product and customer teams.

Responsibilities include leading feature design, code quality, debugging across platforms, and guiding a team toward delivering robust networking solutions in a venture-backed environment.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent degree.
• Ability to write high-quality C/C++/Go/Python code.
• Expert in using AI tools for development, review and building shareable tools.
• 15+ years of relevant hands-on development experience in networking and systems.
• Linux OS internals, Kernel, memory management.
• Networking - TCP/IP, Routing protocols (BGP/OSPF/ISIS) and security (IPSEC/TLS/MACsec).
• High Availability and ISSU.
• Containers, Virtual Machines (VM).
• Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, KVM.
• Public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI; DevOps: Terraform, Helm.

Responsibilities

• Write Feature Spec covering requirements and detailed design.
• Implement improvements and features individually or in a team.
• Triage and resolve internal and customer issues.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party libraries.
• Peer review of specs, code, test plans and docs.
• Improve performance and scale of features.
• Mentor new hires and participate in interviewing.
• Collaborate with customers and product teams on new requirements.
• Plan, schedule, and report project status to delivery.
• Lead a team implementing features and improvements.
• Drive engineering-wide quality and scaling initiatives.
• Participate in architecture and design of new initiatives.
• Consider IP protection and filing patents.
• Engage in industry activities (papers, talks, standards).
