Job summary

Ziply Fiber is seeking a Principal Network Automation Engineer to design and implement software-driven solutions for GPON/XGS-PON and IP networks. You will lead automation initiatives, reduce manual provisioning, and improve operational efficiency across a multi-vendor environment.

Responsibilities include building automation for provisioning, monitoring, and configuring networks, mentoring the team, and collaborating with operations and field teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of software development with focus on access networks.
• Five (5) years of experience with Python, Ansible, REST APIs, Linux, NETCONF, Jinja or related tools.
• Experience/familiarity with Netbox.
• Ability to translate manual processes into automated workflows.
• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to development of custom code to integrate platform components and fill tooling gaps.
• Develop, test, implement, and review complex automation for provisioning, monitoring, and configuring a multi-vendor network.
• Write and maintain scripts and tools (Python, Go) to interact with OLTs, ONTs, and core routers.
• Employ CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling to deliver software.
• Mentor and train the Network Automation Team; collaborate with NOC and field teams.
