Job summary

Flexential Corp. seeks a Sr. Network Automation Engineer to design, build, and operate core components of the API-driven network automation platform beneath the customer self-service portal.

The role combines production software engineering with deep network and security domain expertise. The platform will support L3VPN, DCI, IP Transit, Layer 2 transport, and cloud on-ramp connectivity across 18 metros and 40+ POPs, with a 400G backbone modernization in flight.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production software and network automation.
• 6+ years Python service development (Flask or equivalent), REST API design and data modeling.
• 6+ years: MPLS L3VPN, BGP/EVPN, OSPF/IS-IS, Data Center Interconnect, IP transit, multi-vendor firewall policy.
• 5+ years: network automation and orchestration across vendors.
• 3+ years: building customer-facing service APIs with RBAC and rate limiting.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of major platform components end to end, including backend services in Python (Flask) and RESTful APIs.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs following an API-first platform model with versioning, authentication, and authorization.
• Implement and maintain data models across document, graph, and timeseries databases representing network state and service intent.
• Deliver production-quality code with automated tests and CI/CD delivery.
• Build and maintain northbound APIs for the customer self-service portal, including service catalog, feasibility, order submission, provisioning status, and lifecycle endpoints.
• Implement tenant-scoped authorization, rate limiting, input validation, idempotency, retry, and rollback for orders.
