Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking a Principal Software Engineer – Mobile Applications to lead architecture, design, and delivery of Android and iOS apps for medical device technologies. The role requires strong leadership, hands-on coding, and experience with regulated software development.

You will own end-to-end mobile solutions, ensure FDA/IEC/ISO compliance, mentor engineers, and collaborate with backend, cloud, and cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years in Android and/or iOS mobile development.
• 3+ years of technical leadership as Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, or Architect.
• Deep hands-on expertise in Android (Kotlin/Java) or iOS (Swift) with cross‑platform experience.
• Strong experience in mobile software architecture, MVVM/clean architecture, modularization, and SDK development.
• Experience architecting mobile-to-backend integrations with RESTful APIs, authentication, data synchronization, and cloud interfaces.
• Experience collaborating with backend and cloud teams to define interfaces and ensure performance.
• Proven track record in code reviews, engineering best-practices, and mentoring teams.
• Experience integrating mobile apps with BLE, cloud services, and secure communications.
• 2+ years in medical device software or other regulated environments (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA design controls).
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration across global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, and delivery of Android and iOS apps.
• Drive end‑to‑end mobile backend integration, including APIs and cloud services.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mobile engineers.
• Establish coding standards, testing, CI/CD, and software quality practices.
• Ensure adherence to platform guidelines, accessibility, performance, and security.
• Own regulatory deliverables: architecture docs, risk assessments, traceability.
• Oversee secure device and cloud connectivity, including BLE and network interfaces.
• Collaborate with Backend/Cloud, Firmware, UX/UI, Regulatory, and Product teams.
• Drive technical planning, estimates, risk mitigation, and milestone delivery.
• Remain hands-on for critical design decisions and code reviews.
