Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical to lead manufacturing engineering on carrier or hypersonic vehicle structures. You will define processes, produce shop instructions, and integrate CAD models into production workflows.

The role requires extensive aerospace experience, on-site work in Mojave, CA, and ability to secure a clearance. Travel may be required to support department needs and program milestones.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical engineering, systems, experimental aircraft, and/or launch vehicle integration.
• Experience with aerospace production documentation (drawings and work orders).
• Experience with PDM systems and engineering control and revision release processes.
• Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft payload mechanical systems and control systems.
• Experience with the creation of detailed shop work instructions.
• Familiarity with aerospace hardware such as connectors, relays, wire types, and structures.
• Hands-on experience with aircraft electrical systems and payload installation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5-10 Manufacturing Engineers on programs to support Stratolaunch.
• Assign scope based on programmatic demand and skill sets.
• Ensure clear work instructions are provided and redline standards met.
• Manage work instructions for fabrication, installation, or modification of mechanical systems.
• Create drawings and work instructions for tooling supporting production.
• Reference 3D CAD models and integrate into 2D environments.
