Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical to drive the design, integration, testing and maintenance of carrier or hypersonic vehicle structures. You will define manufacturing processes, produce engineering documents, and lead a manufacturing engineering team in Mojave, CA.

This role requires mastery of mechanical manufacturing, aerospace standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical engineering, systems, experimental aircraft, or launch vehicle integration.
• Experience with aerospace production documentation, drawings, and work orders.
• Experience with PDM systems and engineering control/revision release processes.
• Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft payload mechanical systems and control systems.
• Ability to create detailed shop work instructions and read 3D CAD models.
• Familiarity with aerospace hardware and air vehicle electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5-10 Manufacturing Engineers on programs to support Stratolaunch.
• Develop clear work instructions and ensure redline incorporation and standards.
• Manage work instructions for fabrication, installation, or modification of mechanical systems.
• Create drawings and tooling instructions for production builds.
• Reference 3D CAD models and integrate them into 2D environments.
• Troubleshoot shop documentation issues and provide real-time shop floor support.
• Develop test plans and support hypersonic vehicle testing when required.
