Job summary

RTX in TEWKSBURY, MA is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead ME design, development, and integration of defense platform systems. You'll oversee cross-functional teams across proposal, initiation, and production phases, ensuring design excellence and production readiness.

The role requires strong CAD experience (CREO/ProE), PDM proficiency, and the ability to coordinate with factories and suppliers globally.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Experience spanning concept development, detailed design, transition to production, and sustainment.
• Experience in mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in CAD design tools, ProE and CREO, including Large Assembly Management.
• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems

Responsibilities

• Perform ME design, development, and documentation of components, subassemblies, and major end items.
• Oversee small to mid-sized cross-functional engineering teams as the technical execution lead across all phases—from proposal generation and program initiation
• Serve as the technical focal point for mechanical or cross-functional teams
• Provide support for product integration with domestic and international factories and suppliers.
• Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering disciplines, and suppliers, to resolve technical challenges
• Work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring schedule, cost, and technical commitments are met.
• Support and participate in design peer reviews, and conduct trade studies
• Apply ME knowledge to solve problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
