Job summary

Engtal is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design-build HVAC and MEP work while building a Columbus engineering design hub. You will mentor engineers, shape design standards and collaborate across departments to deliver complex projects from concept to delivery.

The role begins fully remote with a gradual shift to a flexible hybrid schedule as the Columbus office is established, anticipated toward the end of 2027. Strong leadership and client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering; PE license required.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams.
• Extensive HVAC, hydronics, and central plant design experience; strong client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of complex design-build projects (HVAC, hydronic systems, plumbing, central plants).
• Develop the Columbus design hub, recruit, mentor and establish processes and standards.
• Oversee conceptual and detailed mechanical design, load calculations, equipment sizing and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated MEP solutions from design through delivery.
• Mentor engineers and designers, manage resources, performance and quality.
• Represent the mechanical engineering function in client meetings and design reviews.
