Principal Mechanical Engineer – Data Centers
Remote – United States
Rosenthal Search Partners is supporting a data center developer in the appointment of a Principal Mechanical Engineer to take technical ownership across its growing portfolio of mission-critical infrastructure projects. This is a senior, hands‑on engineering position for someone who wants to operate at the forefront of data center cooling and mechanical infrastructure while having genuine influence over how major projects are designed and delivered.
The position is 100% remote within the United States, with travel as required, and offers a highly competitive compensation package including equity ownership.
The Principal Mechanical Engineer will act as a key technical authority across the mechanical discipline, working across the development, design, construction and commissioning lifecycle of data center projects.
Rather than simply coordinating external consultants, you will be expected to understand the engineering in depth, challenge design decisions, review technical deliverables and help establish the mechanical solutions ultimately deployed across projects.
The position will have significant exposure to both traditional mission‑critical cooling infrastructure and the next generation of high‑density and liquid‑cooled data center environments.
Experience with CFD modeling, advanced commissioning / integrated systems testing, water‑use efficiency and BMS control strategies would be highly advantageous.
This is an opportunity to move beyond being one engineer within a large organization and take genuine technical ownership over the mechanical infrastructure supporting major data center developments.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence mechanical design decisions from the earliest stages of development through construction and commissioning, including the deployment of next‑generation cooling technologies.
The package includes:
