Our client is expanding the physical infrastructure behind next-generation, high-density computing environments and is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Data Center to help bring complex facilities from design through operation. This is an opportunity to work directly with sophisticated cooling and mechanical systems where thermal performance, reliability, and scalability are essential. The engineer in this role will have meaningful exposure across design, construction, commissioning, and operations while helping deliver infrastructure built for demanding compute workloads.
This Role Offers:
- Competitive base compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
- Direct involvement in technically complex, high-density data center infrastructure projects.
- Opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and technical partners.
- A growing environment where engineers can expand their technical ownership as the infrastructure portfolio scales.
Focus:
- Engineer resilient cooling and ventilation solutions for high-density data halls, balancing thermal performance, uptime, serviceability, and energy use.
- Translate compute loads and facility requirements into practical mechanical designs, calculations, equipment selections, and operating criteria.
- Assess chilled water, airside, heat rejection, pumping, piping, and control strategies for capacity, redundancy, and lifecycle performance.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls, structural, architectural, construction, and site operations teams.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, vendor packages, and field changes for technical quality and alignment with project requirements.
- Partner with consultants, equipment suppliers, contractors, and commissioning teams from design development through turnover.
- Provide field engineering support during installation, startup, functional testing, commissioning, and early operations.
- Use operating data and root cause analysis to resolve mechanical issues and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 4 to 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, including required hands‑on experience with data center infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling systems, heat rejection, airflow management, pumps, piping, controls, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Applied understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, pressure, temperature, and equipment sizing.
- Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, construction, vendor, commissioning, and operations groups in mission‑critical environments.
- Working knowledge of relevant building and mechanical codes, NFPA requirements, and accepted engineering standards.
- Exposure to high-density compute cooling, thermal modeling, CFD, modular infrastructure, or mechanical system commissioning is beneficial.
