The role emphasizes mission-critical cooling, piping systems, field engineering, construction support, and commissioning, with opportunities to shape repeatable standards for future deployments.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling and piping systems.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, P&IDs, calculations and specs.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning phases.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical engineering support for large-scale data center projects from design through construction and commissioning.
  • Review mechanical cooling systems, piping designs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, and specs.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and resolve RFIs, conflicts, and site issues.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, civil, controls, and construction teams for integrated delivery.
  • Support installation and commissioning of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure.
  • Assist with flushing, filling, pressure testing, startup and balancing.

The company is making significant investments in large-scale data center infrastructure and expanding its U.S. engineering and capacity delivery team to support accelerating demand for AI compute.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design, construction, commissioning, and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center infrastructure.

This individual will take ownership of the mechanical scope across assigned projects, working closely with Design & Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, and external engineering partners.

The role will have a particular focus on mission-critical cooling infrastructure, piping systems, field engineering, construction support, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own mechanical engineering support for large-scale data center projects from design through construction and commissioning.
  • Review and evaluate mechanical cooling systems, piping designs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and resolve mechanical RFIs, design conflicts, and site issues.
  • Review contractor submittals, equipment selections, and mechanical installation requirements.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, civil, controls, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Support installation and commissioning of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure.
  • Assist with system flushing, filling, pressure testing, startup, balancing, and functional testing.
  • Identify constructability issues and work with contractors and engineering partners to develop practical solutions.
  • Support project closeout, turnover, and final mechanical system documentation.
  • Help develop repeatable engineering and delivery standards for future data center deployments.
Experience Required
  • Mechanical engineering experience within data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial plants, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling, hydronic, and piping systems.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, P&IDs, calculations, specifications, and equipment selections.
  • Experience supporting projects during the construction and commissioning phases.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in the field.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical system installation, startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience with liquid cooling, high-density data center cooling, modular systems, pipe stress analysis, or prefabricated/skid systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
