Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the Machining and Fabrication Manufacturing Engineering Team. The role focuses on developing and maintaining manufacturing processes for machined and fabricated components, interacting with stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.

On-site, 7:00 AM start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering or mechanical engineering (Master's with 3+ years also considered).
• Experience with machined and fabricated components from raw material and reading engineering drawings.
• Experience in CAD and CAM software and shop floor support.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of manufacturing processes for complex machined components.
• Design sequence of operations and specify fabrication procedures.
• Perform continuous improvement to reduce cost and schedule impact.
• Implement root cause and corrective action plans using standard techniques.
• Guide engineering on design concepts to optimize manufacturing usage of equipment.
• Interface with operators and supervisors on the shop floor.
• Travel to suppliers as needed to achieve positive outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative culture and lead manufacturing engineering activities.
