Job summary

NVIDIA seeks a Principal Linux Kernel Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to lead upstream-first kernel development for NVIDIA CPU platforms. You will guide Linux kernel strategy, coordinate across memory management, scheduling, virtualization, PCIe, ACPI, and related subsystems, and collaborate with CPU architects and firmware teams to push upstream-friendly changes.

You will mentor engineers, establish best practices for upstream development, and work with distributions and partners to enable NVIDIA

Qualifications

14+ years of experience developing Linux kernel software.
Strong understanding of CPU architecture, memory management, interrupts, scheduling, virtualization, ACPI, PCIe, and device drivers.
Recognized contributor with a reputation in the Linux kernel community; experience with upstream development.

Responsibilities

Own and drive the Linux kernel strategy for NVIDIA CPU platforms with an upstream-first model.
Lead upstream enablement across major Linux kernel subsystems; minimize downstream maintenance.
Track kernel evolution and drive roadmaps across memory management, scheduling, virtualization, PCIe, ACPI, RAS, CXL, networking, filesystems, and security.
Collaborate with CPU architects, hardware designers, firmware teams, and software engineers to influence interfaces for upstream-friendly Linux support.
Represent NVIDIA in the Linux community; drive upstream reviews and advocate NVIDIA technologies.
Lead architecture and implementation of kernel support for next-gen CPU/SoC features; identify hardware/firmware simplifications.
