Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Principal Software Engineer - Infrastructure Automation in a hybrid Phoenix/Scottsdale environment to lead the architecture and engineering of our infrastructure-as-code platform across cloud and on-premises environments.

You will own Terraform and Ansible modules, govern tooling and tests, and partner with CI/CD, Security, and Observability to deliver secure, scalable automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software, platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise-scale architecture with minimal guidance.
• Strong production programming in Python or Go.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, and AWS.
• Knowledge of policy-as-code and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Define target solutions and drive delivery with measurable adoption.
• Set enterprise strategy and reference architecture for infrastructure automation.
• Establish engineering standards for modules, tooling, testing, release management, and governance.
• Own Terraform as the enterprise default for provisioning across cloud and on-premises estates.
• Define and deliver opinionated Terraform modules for AWS services and patterns.
• Establish enterprise override and exception model with policy checks and audits.
• Architect module test and release system with native tests, Terratest, tflint, and policy gates.
• Own the enterprise Terraform/Ansible operating models and governance.
• Define configuration-as-code architecture for network infrastructure and policy-as-code libraries.
• Design self-service capabilities for module discovery and compliance dashboards.
• Prototype and de-risk complex automation problems and mentor senior engineers.
• Partner with CI/CD, Security, Network Engineering, and Observability to integrate platforms.
