Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Infrastructure Automation in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The role focuses on infrastructure-as-code, building and improving Terraform and Ansible tooling, and enabling secure, scalable cloud and on‑prem environments.

Expect collaboration across Cloud, Platform, Security, and CI/CD teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong Python/Go skills, extensive Terraform/Ansible experience, and a track record of leading complex technical work in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Typically eight or more years of related experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong production programming experience in Python, Go, or a comparable general‑purpose language.
• Experience with Terraform and Ansible in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and security concepts.
• Ability to lead complex technical work and influence implementation decisions.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering discipline to infrastructure automation with tested, versioned modules and policy controls.
• Execute complex infrastructure automation work with general direction and manage risks/dependencies.
• Contribute to reference architectures for infrastructure‑as‑code capabilities and evaluate tradeoffs.
• Drive adoption of Terraform across cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Design and develop Terraform modules for AWS services with security and compliance by default.
• Develop policy‑as‑code and automate validation of Terraform plans.
• Lead engineering practices for Terraform Enterprise including state governance and drift detection.
• Develop and improve Ansible capabilities, including roles, collections, and testing.
• Collaborate with Security, Risk, and Compliance to map controls and automate evidence collection.
