Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer for an onsite role at the Largo Consolidated Manufacturing Center in Largo, FL. You will lead multi‑discipline teams through design-to-production transitions, ensuring producibility, testing, and performance margins for military communication products, while coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree with 8+ years experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience designing or producing military electronic communication systems and supporting program transitions to production and sustainment.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proficient with technical documentation.
• Expertise in project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams transitioning programs from design to production and sustainment.
• Lead manufacturing engineering reviews to ensure producibility, testability, and performance margins.
• Oversee design, selection, specification, and optimization for production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and gauging.
• Lead RCCA investigations across factory, suppliers, and design sites.
• Review critical manufacturing performance metrics and drive improvement initiatives.
• Propose and justify manufacturing engineering solutions and schedules.
• Communicate technical status to internal and customer leadership.
• Conduct design and supplier trade studies.
• Maintain and update hardware specifications and data packages.
• Develop production test strategies and assess test coverage.
• Support configuration control and participate in the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
• Lead supplier technical support and issue resolution.
• Identify risks and opportunities and manage them.
• Travel occasionally.
