Job summary

SpaceX, a leader in space technology, seeks a Principal Hardware Engineer for Starlink to own the electrical system of millions of customer-facing devices such as user terminals and gateways.

You will own design, verification, qualification, and production readiness, collaborating with silicon, software, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-reliability hardware at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
• 8+ years designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years in full hardware life cycle development.
• Experience with mixed-signal boards and high-speed interfaces.
• Strong Python and C/C++ programming.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test highly reliable electronics for communicating with satellites.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and production test teams.
• Lead system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and hardware bring-up.
• Provide hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance hardware.
• Drive design improvements with data analysis from orbit and lab.
