Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Principal Engineer for FPGA/ASIC design in Reston, VA. The role supports engine control systems, with travel up to 25% to other sites in IN. Hybrid schedule with in-office and remote work is available.

You will develop RTL in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, verify via simulations, and ensure proper DO-254 certification readiness. Strong emphasis on design, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience or Master's with 3+ years, or PhD.
• U.S. Citizen required to be eligible for the role.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of project to produce detailed design docs, verification plans and reports.
• Design and development of custom digital devices (ASIC/FPGA) to support RR engine control units.
• Verify complex FPGA/ASIC products to DO-254.
• Develop RTL using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog and debug via simulation tools.
• Achieve timing closure on FPGA designs and generate test benches.
• Evaluate flow including high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing constraints, and power.
