Job summary

Renesas Electronics seeks a Principal Firmware Architect for UALink Switch products to define the end-to-end embedded software and firmware architecture for next-generation AI cluster scale-up switches.

You will bridge silicon and upper-layer orchestration, shaping how firmware governs topology, throughput, and reliability across thousands of accelerators, while collaborating with ASIC, RTL, and verification teams to ensure robust interfaces and fault containment.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in C for bare-metal and RTOS environments (ThreadX, FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
• Proficient Python for hardware automation and modeling.
• Deep understanding of high-speed interconnect protocols (UALink, NVLink, CXL, PCIe Gen5/Gen6).
• Experience with hardware debuggers and lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end embedded firmware architecture for UALink Switch products.
• Collaborate with ASIC design, RTL, and verification teams on interfaces and memory maps.
• Lead initialization, boot, topology discovery, routing, and platform orchestration via OpenBMC/Redfish.
