Job summary

Renesas Electronics seeks a Principal Firmware Architect for UALink Switch products to define and drive the end-to-end embedded software and firmware architecture for our next-generation AI cluster scale-up switches.

You will bridge silicon and software, shaping firmware behavior across initialization, topology discovery, routing, and platform orchestration with OpenBMC/Redfish interfaces, ensuring low latency, high reliability, and robust security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years in embedded systems, server platform architecture, or low-level silicon firmware development.
• C proficiency for bare-metal/RTOS and Python for automation.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end embedded firmware architecture for UALink Switch ASIC.
• Collaborate with ASIC RTL, design, and verification for HW-SW interfaces.
• Implement firmware stack for UALink PHY/link/transport layers.
• Design deterministic link-training state machines for ultra-high-speed connections.
• Architect topology discovery, runtime routing, and credit management.
• Lead SDKs/APIs exposing switch functionality to BMCs via OpenBMC/Redfish.
• Optimize latency and bandwidth for collective communication primitives.
• Design robust RAS, telemetry, and secure boot/runtime attestation.
