Job summary

Renesas in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Principal Platform Architect for UALink Switch Products to define the end-to-end hardware, software, and management architecture of our next-generation AI-scale switch platform.

You will architect cross-ASIC interactions, backplane topologies, power and cooling orchestration, and the platform management stack (OpenBMC, Redfish, PLDM) to enable seamless data-center integration.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 20+ years of architectural experience in high-performance server platforms or data-center infrastructure/switches.
• Expertise in high-speed interconnects and platform management standards (Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, SPDM, OpenBMC).

Responsibilities

• System & topology architecture: design chassis, backplanes, scale-up fabrics, and tiered switch hierarchies.
• Platform management & software: define BMC/OpenBMC, boot sequencing, firmware update orchestration, and security.
• Advanced RAS & infra: plan fault isolation, hot-swapping, thermal/power telemetry, and reliability strategies.
• Collaborate across silicon, hardware, and cloud software groups to enable seamless data-center integration.
