Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Principal Algorithm Engineer for EO/IR image analysis in Tucson, AZ. You will develop, validate, and deploy advanced EO/IR image processing and pattern recognition algorithms for space payloads, working with government customers.

The role requires a TS/SCI eligible clearance and 12+ years in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++ with strong communication skills and proven experience delivering mission-critical software for sensors and tracking systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical field with demonstrated experience in image processing or EO/IR systems.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++ for analysis, modeling, simulation, or algorithm development.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of presenting results to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy algorithms for EO/IR image data and pattern recognition.
• Build and maintain software tools for data collection, analysis, and performance assessment.
• Decompose customer requirements into algorithm and subsystem requirements for engineering execution.
• Document and present algorithm performance results to government customers.
• Attend technical meetings and support off-site travel as needed.
