Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Principal Engineer for High Value Senders to own technology strategy across the domain, partnering with engineering, product, design, and analytics to enable secure, scalable transfers.

You will shape domain architecture for web, mobile, and backend systems, mentor engineers, and drive autonomous teams while aligning with Remitly’s standards for reliability and trust.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Significant time designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Backend expertise in Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
• Experience with TypeScript/React for frontend.
• Strong leadership and architecture skills.
• Experience applying AI in software delivery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute HVS technology strategy and architecture.
• Lead domain-level design reviews and align with Remitly's goals.
• Build architectures for web, mobile, and backend services.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-team collaboration.
• Ensure reliability, security, and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with product, design, marketing, and analytics.
