Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Analytical Engine team. You will define, lead, and contribute to the development of data-heavy enhancements for ES|QL, shaping the next generation of the compute engine and customer interfaces.

You will collaborate across teams and partners to translate needs into a strategic, long-term technical roadmap. You will bring extensive experience with analytics systems, Java, and data storage technologies, and you will mentor

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical projects in data-intensive applications.
• Mentor engineers and guide teams across organizations.
• Define a long-term technical vision for a data-heavy area.
• Hands-on with search and analytics APIs (e.g., Elasticsearch).
• Strong core Java skills and data-structures knowledge.
• Autonomous, end-to-end ownership of projects.
• Experience with distributed storage technologies like Elasticsearch/Solr/DBs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
