Job summary
Vanta seeks a Principal Engineer to own the architectural foundation of its Governance and Compliance platform, focusing on enterprise org structure, data residency, and cross-cutting audits. You will define abstractions and drive multi-quarter delivery across squads, ensuring continuity for existing customers as architecture evolves.
This pivotal role requires steering complex problems with product judgment, customer engagement, and clear technical direction.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of deep backend engineering experience leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives.
- Designed platform abstractions absorbing diverse enterprise requirements.
- Experience moving large, structurally complex problems forward incrementally.
- Proven ability to align squads and teams through technical clarity and credibility.
- Knowledge of enterprise patterns: tenancy, access control, data isolation, cross-tenant ops.
- Strong written and verbal communication for leadership, product, and customers.
- Experience with data residency or GovCloud is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and multi-quarter delivery of Vanta's enterprise org model across product lines and units.
- Define core abstractions to absorb diverse enterprise requirements, solving the general case.
- Retrofit live systems toward a multi-tenant structure with safe migration paths.
- Ship incremental value each quarter while aligning with product and customer needs.
