Job summary

Postman is seeking a Principal Engineer to define and lead the next generation of its Business Platform for the agentic era in San Francisco. You will own the long-term technical vision and multi-year roadmap, tying business, product, and organizational goals into a coherent architecture that serves all products.

You’ll mentor Senior and Staff Engineers, shape identity, licensing, billing and trust across teams, and ensure secure, scalable tier-0 services with strong operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on engineering experience.
• Fluency in common programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS).
• Deep expertise in identity management, security or AI.
• Track record of influencing the industry through standards bodies, open source, publications or talks.
• Experience setting the technical strategy and architecture for large-scale platforms across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical vision and architecture for the Business Platform and connect it to Postman’s product architecture and strategy.
• Lead Postman’s approach to identity, authorization, trust delegation, licensing and monetization; translate into a multi-year engineering roadmap.
• Guide multiple teams to build secure, scalable, reliable tier-0 systems; review critical designs and manage dependencies.
• Prototype, code and lead by example to drive hard problems to closure.
• Mentor Senior and Staff Engineers and grow technical leadership across the org.
