Job summary

Cloudflare, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Enterprise Integrations in Austin, TX. The role combines hands-on implementation with guiding technical direction across multiple teams and platforms.

You’ll design, develop, and govern AI-enabled integrations, drive reliability, and shape engineering practices while partnering with business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in at least one backend language
• Experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.)
• Experience with AI guardrails/governance best practices
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI-enabled systems with measurable outcomes
• Demonstrated experience influencing technical culture and best practices
• Familiarity with integration patterns (pub/sub, API-first, CDM, batch processing)
• Experience building APIs with proper security and operational practices
• Experience with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Kibana, Splunk)
• Working familiarity with containerized/cloud environments (Kubernetes)
• Experience with serverless computing platforms (AWS Lambda, Cloudflare Workers)
• Experience with GitLab or other CI/CD tooling
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

Responsibilities

• Establish technical direction across Enterprise Applications and drive incremental delivery
• Design systems and lead cross-team initiatives
• Influence engineering practices and mentor teams
• Build AI-enabled systems and evaluation frameworks
• Assess when AI or deterministic software is appropriate
• Improve engineering tooling and workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate problems into technical strategies
• Lead end-to-end architecture reviews and implementation plans
